Pappa Joe's - Butter Chicken Pizza?

The Pappa Joe’s on 4520 East Hastings in Burnaby has been around since 1993 and we always used to enjoy both the pizza and the pasta that they had.  Even though we didn’t live near the place, any time we were in the neighbourhood, we would make sure to pick up their Masterpiece Pizza and tasty lasagna.  There was something really special about the meat sauce in their lasagna that we’ve never tasted elsewhere.

So you can understand our surprise when we went to order from our once favourite haunt, only to find that their menu had changed.  Now, in addition to a shortened version of their previous pizza and pasta offerings, they also offer a selection of Indian cuisine including Butter Chicken Pizza!  I thought this was kind of weird but then did a google search and found it wasn’t as unique as I first thought.

Feeling a bit apprehensive about ordering Indian food from a pizza joint, we just went with the All Dressed pizza, lasagna, and seafood linguine.

 

The pizza was okay but not as good as it used to be.  Same goes for the lasagna… that special something that made it great wasn’t there any more.  The seafood linguine wasn’t bad.. very creamy (if you like that).  The menu described it as shrimp and crab but the “crab” was just the the fake polluck stuff.

When I asked the new owner about the changes, he said they changed the menu about 9 months ago after they took over the business.  Kind of sad – probably won’t go out of our way to order from here anymore.  Then again, maybe we’ve got to try that butter chicken pizza?  What do you think?  Has anyone tried it before?
