Patisserie Lebeau @ Home

Just a follow up to our earlier post of Patisserie Lebeau… as I mentioned, if you don’t live near Fairview, you don’t have to deprive yourself of their wickedly awesome waffles.  They sell individually wrapped waffles that are frozen and ready-to-eat at a number of locations (including their W 2nd location). Spot Prawns @ Home

Spot prawns are the largest commercial species of shrimp found on the west coast and are usually available fresh for a short period of time between May and June.  Read the rest of this entry

Lee’s Donuts

It’s been said many times before… if the only donuts that you’ve ever had were from Timmy Ho’s or Krispy Kreme… you’ve never truly had a good donut.  If you live in the Lower Mainland and you want a great donut, you have to stop by Lee’s Donuts down in Granville Island. Read the rest of this entry

Patisserie Lebeau – Waffles at their best

Ever since reading Eating in Vancouver’s post on the waffles at Patisserie Lebeau, I’ve been dying to try it out.  The problem is that they’re not open on Sundays (or Mondays for that matter) and it’s a bit out of the way for us. Read the rest of this entry

L’Artista Ristorante Italiano

L’Artista Ristorante Italiano is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant located in North Burnaby and looks deceptively small from the outside.  Once you enter, you can see tables that stretch deep into the back with a red brick archway that separates the front tables from a small semi-private dining area in the back.  The interior is kind of old school Italian with white and green linen table cloths and the waitresses are very friendly and outgoing. Anatolia’s Gate

I can’t believe that I’ve been working a few blocks away from Anatolia’s Gate for about 6 years now and I’ve never tried them out.  Thanks to Taya and Gary’s recent review, I just had to try the spot out for myself. Read the rest of this entry

Sushi Go – Sushi A-Go-Go

Summertime is here which means it’s time for re-runs on tv (and coincidentally, re-runs on restaurants).  Actually, work’s been super busy so when I needed a quick dinner solution, where else would I go other than Sushi Go? Read the rest of this entry

Salmon House on the Hill

It’s probably been a decade since the last time I’ve been to the Salmon House on the Hill.  From what I recall, it was pretty good… today, however, was a little less than pleasing.  Sit back and relax and let me relate my experience… some of it is kind of funny so if it brings a smile to your face, maybe it was not all for naught. Dynasty Seafood Restaurant

I must have walked by Dynasty Seafood Restaurant many times but never noticed it because it`s tucked in the back of a building on West Broadway and Willow (kind of like New India Buffet).  Unlike nearby Golden Great Wall Szechuan, Dynasty specializes only in Southern Chinese dim sum. Pho Century Fine Vietnamese Cuisine

I’m not sure why I haven’t tried many of the Vietnamese restaurants along the Kingsway corridor in Burnaby… aside from the fact that a lot of them look like they’re hole-in-the-wall places.  It gets a little confusing too since most of their names (I counted 6) all start with “Pho ___”.

The main reason why I stopped by the new Pho Century was because it’s located right next door to Dr. Ho’s (no, that’s not a typo… I’ve always just called it Dr. Ho’s instead of Mr. Ho’s). Read the rest of this entry

Pelican Seafood Restaurant

We’ve been having a difficult time deciding where to eat.  At first, we thought about Golden Swan… then we started getting confused with all of the Chinese restaurants with some type of bird in their name… Flamingo, Pelican, etc… We eventually decided on Pelican – It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten at Pelican Seafood Restaurant but it still seemed as busy as I remembered.

Kirin (City Square)

Thanks to one of our friends, we’ve had a Kirin gift card burning a hole in my wallet since last December.  Kirin’s on the pricier end of dim sum but you usually get what you pay for. Read the rest of this entry
