Red Ginger

If you remember Kam’s Place on Davie, you’ll be happy to know that they reopened on West Broadway under the new name… Red Ginger.  The interior of the restaurant is rather large with light pink and yellow paint along with furnishings and artwork that make me think that we’re dining in someone’s home.

Red Ginger has kept the same menu as Kam’s and one of the best deals is their Lunch Specials for roughly $7.  You get a fabulously fresh soup that’s got a nice spicy kick to it… perfect for keeping you warm on a cold Vancouver day.

Plus, you get a large serving of rice, salad and a choice of various chicken, beef, pork, or vegetarian entrees.

The Long Bean Spicy Chicken comes with boneless chicken, chili, and garlic pan fried with long green beans.

The Attap Green Curry Pork is served with seasonal vegetables including broccoli and bamboo shoots in a deliciously spicy green curry sauce… perfect for serving over rice.  The dishes were quite large and very filling, but more importantly, very yummy – better than the lunch specials we had at Green Basil.

We also ordered the Tok Wa appetizer (deep fried tofu with beef in a sweet and spicy pineapple sauce).  We were surprised at how large this dish was considering it was an appetizer.  Like the curry and green beans lunch specials, this went very well with rice.

They seem to have a loyal following… we saw some diners speaking to the owner and telling him how much they used to like eating at the old Davie location and made the trip out to see their new location.
