Ichimi Sushi (Brentwood)
Ichimi Sushi is a small little sushi stand in Brentwood Mall located on the 2nd floor directly across the atrium from the main food court. I’ve often thought about trying them out but keep forgetting to because it’s separate from all of the other food stalls in the mall.
When I walked by the other day, I noticed the distinct vinegar aroma of freshly made sushi rice. While they do serve some donburi dishes, most of their fare focusses on sushi so I decided to get the BC Combo for $8.75. You get a large BC Roll, Negitoro Roll with tuna and green onion, Tuna and Salmon Nigri.
When I visited, they didn’t have any prepared sushi so everything was made fresh for me (which took a few minutes). I was surprised at how tasty the sushi was considering it was coming from a mall food court. While I would have preferred the BC Roll to have more salmon skin instead of just bbq salmon, it was pretty good and came with a decent serving size.
The Negitoro Roll was my favourite. Despite not being rolled tight enough (you can kind of see the roll coming apart in the picture), it tasted very fresh – something you don’t always get in the mall. Plus, kudos for not using artificially coloured pickled ginger.
One of the pluses of eating here is that they have a large dining area in front of the outlet that is largely ignored by the other mall patrons because it’s kind of far away from the rest of the food stalls.

hum! doesn’t look bad at all given it’s at the food court
now if they also sell Takoyaki i’ll be there this weekend lol! you should try the sushi places here at the crystal mall too
they aren’t bad at all
Sorry, no takoyaki here. The only thing that bugs me about crystal mall is the horrid circular parking.
Yep! worst parking in the entire Burnaby! don’t know what the guy was thinking, the biggest irony of it all? people still park at the Crystal to go to Metrotown lol!
