Izumi Sushi (Metrotown)
Izumi Sushi in the Metrotown food court (not to be confused with Ichimi Sushi in Brentwood) is just what you would expect from a mall food court that serves Japanese food… not necessarily a good thing.
I remember having the donburi here many moons ago (back when it was located in the old food court in Metropolis) and it was pretty good. I think it was because they made it fresh for you when you ordered it.
This time around, I went with their Combo No. 5 for $7.35 which gets you yakisoba noodles, a Japanese green salad, deep fried shrimp, and an order of California roll.
There were a lot of things wrong with this meal… the yakisoba noodles tasted kind of hard (probably because it was sitting out too long), the dressing for the green salad was disappointing, and the deep fried shrimp was a poor substitute for prawn tempura. I think the deep frying process made the shrimp a little chewy.
Nothing really great about the California roll but I suppose it was better than the rest of the meal.
