Solly’s Bagelry (Main Street) – You can’t beat a babka
If you’ve read this blog long enough, you’ve probably seen quite a few references to various tv shows that I’ve grown up watching. One of the funnier episodes of Seinfeld was The Dinner Party where the gang was trying to buy a chocolate babka to bring to a (you guessed it) dinner party. Through the entire episode, they never showed what a “babka” looked like so I was always intrigued by this mythical bread/cake/dessert. And you have to remember that back in the early 90′s, the interweb was still in it’s infancy so you couldn’t just “Google it” like you can today.
It wasn’t until recently that I saw my first Chocolate Babka at Solly’s.
We wound up picking up a Cinnamon Bun along with the Chocolate Babka.
With all of the fuss that they made over the chocolate babka in the Seinfeld episode, I guess I was expecting something truly spectacular… maybe next time I’ve got to try a cinnamon babka.
