Cartel Taco at the Waldorf
As I mentioned on my last post on Mom’s Grilled Cheese Truck, The Waldorf has been holding an East Van Food Fest every Sunday. It was super hot the week that we visited with very little shade (save for the large parking lot billboard that was casting a narrow but pleasant shadow).
Cartel Taco has a very limited offering of tacos (actually just 2 to be exact): Beef Ribeye and Pork Butt Tacos created in a Korean-fusion style. Cartel prides themselves on using locally sourced ingredients.
The tacos were pretty good but I personally don’t like the use of double tortillas. I suppose it’s meant to help hold the juicy filling (or you could split them apart and make two smaller tacos I guess).

I’m guessing guacamole on the beef… what’s the other topping?
They were both some type of salsa… one red and one green. Not sure what it was made of though.
