Chez Meme Baguette Bistro

Chez Meme has been on my list of places to try for quite a while but I haven’t found myself in the North Burnaby area for ages.  As it turns out, we happened to be in the neighbourhood looking for some eats and wound up parking right in front of Chez Meme.

This little restaurant was very busy when we arrived at 11:30am but we managed to grab the last available table.  Since it was early December, the weather was grey and gloomy so I ordered a delicious Hot Chocolate with whipped cream ($3.25) to keep warm.

The Espagnol Omelette (9.75) comes prepared with fluffy eggs, chorizo sausage, peppers, and onions and is served with a generous helping of sautéed potatoes and crusty bread.

The Bouguignon Baguette with French Onion Soup ($10.75 + $3.00) had a nice cheesy topping on the soup but oddly enough, not a lot of onions.  For the extra $3, it’s hard to complain though.  If you’re looking for the best French Onion Soup I’ve had, go visit La Régalade in West Van.

I know why people come here… the sandwich was delicious with a crusty baguette holding copious amounts of shredded beef bourguignon, caramelized onions, and a slight amount of horseradish.

If you’re thinking of trying out Chez Meme, go early and don’t forget to stop by nearby Valley Bakery for dessert.
