Dublin Castle Neighbourhood Grill – Pot Pies and Poutine
If you’re looking for a quaint little pub that serves up some good eats, you only have to drop by the old BC Penitentiary Guard House located in New West. As I mentioned on my last visit to Dublin Castle, it’s a little difficult finding this place if you’ve never been here before but it’s worth the trip.
I love the flaky pastry crust on the hot Chicken Pot Pie ($13.99). We added a cup of Chicken Corn Chowder to the meal for an additional $1.50. If you come here, you can’t go wrong with one of their pies (both the Shepherd’s Pie and the Steak and Guinness Pie are great too).
I picked the Ye Old Irish Beef Dip ($10.99) that was piled high with lots of shaved beef and a touch of horseradish mayo (that wasn’t very strong). I added the Poutine Fries to my meal for an additional $2.99.
While there were no curds in the poutine, there was plenty of melted shredded cheese and topped with a salty but addictive Guinness gravy.
I just wish there was more places like this in our neighbourhood.
