Nao Sushi – Odd Service and Lacklustre Food

I’ve been to Nao Sushi in the past but never really saw why the ratings here were so high.  It’s a passable Japanese restaurant but there’s so many better places nearby.

This time around, I ordered the Oyako Don.  I liked how it had both egg and onions in the bowl but the chicken was quite dry.  I had forgotten from my last post that the Chicken Karaage was dry here as well… this visit was no different.

The steamed clams came in a broth that had very little flavour.

I have to admit, though, that the large Sashimi Salad was pretty good and had a decent amount of various sashimi pieces in it.

In addition to the Toro and Unagi nigiri, we ordered 1/2 House Roll.  While the filling was plentiful, it wasn’t put together very well and wound up falling apart as soon as we tried to pick it up.  It seemed obvious that they didn’t wrap it tight enough because we could see empty space in the middle of the roll.

The Oyster Motoyaki came served baked in little bowls.  Usually, this is a creamy dish but, despite the sauce, it felt more watery than creamy.

During our visit, the waitresses weren’t very helpful.  One of them just didn’t understand our order no matter how many times we tried to explain it to her.  Then there was the kid that threw up by the sushi counter.  Our weird waitress tried to make a joke about it but stopped short and just snickered away.
