Thai House (Fairview) – All You Can Eat Thai Food

Although we like the Thai House, we haven’t been back to this particular location for a long time.  In fact, this was the first Thai restaurant that we’ve ever tried (all the way back in the late 80′s).  If you’ve ever been to the Thai House, you know that they have a fairly extensive menu.  I remember being surprised on our first visit when the waiter knew each dish by number and took the orders at our table all by memory and got it all right (and we had a big group of people with us).

Bacchanal Buffet (Las Vegas – Caesars Palace)

A visit to Las Vegas wouldn’t be complete without trying out one of the buffets.  Don’t let the pricetag dissuade you, compared to many of the high-end restaurants on The Strip, casino buffets tend to be a bargain… especially when you consider what you get for your buck.

The Buffet at the River Rock – Memphis BBQ Nights

It’s been a long, long time since we’ve been on vacation and enjoyed a true Vegas-style casino buffet.  The Buffet at the River Rock actually has theme nights and every Thursday is Memphis BBQ Nights for $24.95.

Kyung Bok Palace

I remember coming to Kyung Bok Palace many years ago but haven’t been back for a while.  Back in the day (I’m guessing when it first opened) it was quite a busy AYCE joint as there were long line ups for dinner.  At one point, I thought they had closed down but it looks like they are still kicking around. 

Griffins – Dessert Buffet

As I mentioned on our post on Hapa Izakaya, we weren’t completely satiated so we decided to walk up to Griffins in the Hotel Vancouver for their famous dessert buffet.

The Buffet at River Rock – Unlimited Chocolate Covered Bacon

The Buffet at River Rock is a sprawling 260 seat restaurant located on the 2nd floor above the River Rock Casino in Richmond… gotta love the spiral escalator – reminds me of the one they have at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas. 

Eagles Buffet (Tulalip)

There really is nothing like a Vegas casino buffet but what do you do when you simply don’t have the time (or money) to make it to Sin City?  Fortunately, Tulalip is a pretty close drive from Vancouver and they happen to have a buffet in their casino.  While not on par with a Vegas casino, it’s not bad either and they have a pretty varied selection of food.

Szechuan Chongqing (Broadway) – 30th Anniversary AYCE Tasting Menu

I’m a little confused that Szechuan Chongqing is having a “30th Anniversary” considering their website says that they opened in 1983.  Perhaps it has to do with the Chinese tradition of starting the birthday age count at one instead of zero (a newborn is said to start at 1 year old).

Reflect Social Dining + Lounge

The Sunday Brunch at Reflect Social Dining + Lounge is one of our favourites for the sheer amount of variety that you get with your meal.  The price is a bit expensive at $32.95 per person but it does include champagne mimosas. 

Top Gun Hot Pot – AYCE

Top Gun Hot Pot is part of the Top Gun Group of Restaurants that includes Kingsway Sushi among others.  Located on the 2nd floor of Crystal Mall, it’s a very popular and busy All-You-Can-Eat hot pot spot given the price – $23.95 for adults (Fridays, weekends, and holidays are an extra $1) plus an extra $7.50 for the soup base.

You might wonder why you would pay so much to cook your own food but it’s very easy to get your money’s worth here.

Sui Sha Ya (Metrotown)

Given all of the poor reviews of Sui Sha Ya, you would kind of wonder why it’s always so busy… I think the main point that most reviewers miss is that they try to compare Sui Sha Ya with a regular Japanese restaurant.  I kind of think of it like a McDonald’s version of Japanese all-you-can-eat… price is pretty cheap and food comes out pretty quick (because a lot of it is pre-made).

Fish on Rice

We used to go to Fish on Rice when it first opened many years ago.  The food was pretty good for an AYCE place.  But as time went by (as it happens in so many places) things went down hill.  We had almost forgotten about the place until today when we decided to give it another shot… and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised.
