Tandori Indian Cuisine – Menu Pictures Can Be Deceiving
Tandori Indian Cuisine is a bright new addition to the food court at Brentwood Mall. Initially starting back East, this franchise operation has started to open outlets in BC.
Jambo Grill & Good Morning Paan – Dine In
I just found this old post sitting in my draft box from January of this year - I had almost forgotten about it. On our previous visits to Jambo Grill, we had take-out… this time around, we figured we’d stop by and dine in. The interior is fairly spacious with the walls decorated with various African artwork.
Mezbaan Fine Indian Fusion
We first tried Mezbaan Fine Indian Fusion over a year ago (a little bit before we started our food blog) but haven’t had the chance to revisit until just recently. Like a lot of other Indian restaurants, they do offer a buffet – but I’ve been trying to steer clear of East Indian buffets lately because the sauces tend to be quite rich and the rice and naan fill you up so quickly. Curry Express (Metrotown)
Curry Express is exactly what the name implies… you get quick curry items when you need it the most. The problem is that the food isn’t the most authentic that it can be. Still, when every other stall is serving burgers or sweet and sour pork, it’s a nice change having other ethnic choices at the mall.
Jambo Grill & Good Morning Paan – Fried Beef Kebabs
It seems like the fall tv season just started and things are already in re-runs. It seems appropriate, then, that we go into re-runs as well this week and share some revisits to restaurants that we’ve blogged about before. First up for your reading pleasure is Jambo Grill & Good Morning Paan.
Jambo Grill & Good Morning Paan
Looking for more tasty restaurants to try out, Jambo Grill & Good Morning Paan was recommended to me by a co-worker who shall remain nameless (you know who you are). Don’t be discouraged by the long, strange name… “Jambo” is Swahili for “Hello” and “Paan” is a traditional betel leaf wrapped with sweets and nuts used as a palate cleanser and to aid in digestion. Chili Pepper House
Chili Pepper House is a small restaurant located on the corner of Kingsway and Rupert Street that specializes in Indian style Chinese food. I’ve had take-out from here a few times in the past but I can’t remember why I don’t frequent it more often. Read the rest of this entry
New India Buffet
When am I going to learn to stop going to Indian Buffets?
We were walking along West Broadway and (as usual) we couldn’t decide on where to have lunch. That’s when we noticed the smell of curry wafting through the air. We looked up and saw the big sign for New India Buffet toting how they had a 40 item buffet. Read the rest of this entry
Raga Restaurant
I find it interesting that Raga Restaurant had an 87% “Like” on Urbanspoon (as I write this) but there haven’t been any other blog posts (and of the 4 user reviews, 3 didn’t like it). It’s not like it’s a new restaurant (it’s been around since 1981). And it must be fairly well known given the number of celebrities that have eaten there (think I saw Trevor Linden’s autograph on the wall). Read the rest of this entry
