Thai New West – Thai Food in Sapperton

You know, I love restaurant names that are unambiguous.  Take, for example, Thai New West… it’s a Thai restaurant located in New West.  It’s not like Cambie Vietnamese Restaurant that’s not actually on Cambie St. Read the rest of this entry

Thai House (Fairview) – All You Can Eat Thai Food

Although we like the Thai House, we haven’t been back to this particular location for a long time.  In fact, this was the first Thai restaurant that we’ve ever tried (all the way back in the late 80′s).  If you’ve ever been to the Thai House, you know that they have a fairly extensive menu.  I remember being surprised on our first visit when the waiter knew each dish by number and took the orders at our table all by memory and got it all right (and we had a big group of people with us). U & I Thai – Red Curry Duck with Lychee

Just before Christmas last year, we were making a concerted effort to avoid shopping at malls due to all of the crowds.  We found ourselves around the Cambie area and I remembered that there was a new Thai restaurant that opened up in the old SalaThai spot.

Bob Likes Thai Food

The thing that I like about restaurants with unambiguous names is you don’t have to guess what kind of food they serve.  Take, for example, Bob Likes Thai Food on Main Street… it’s a pretty good bet that they serve Thai food. Read the rest of this entry

Lhy Thai – Thai Food in Burnaby

For some reason, there’s not that many Thai restaurants in Burnaby.  I guess because of that fact, Lhy Thai is able to enjoy a fairly popular following in the Edmonds area.  It probably doesn’t hurt that the large selection of lunch specials is pretty cheap too. Read the rest of this entry

Thai Express (Park Royal) – Chicken Noodle Soup

Okay, this isn’t a big review… see our last visit to Thai Express (Park Royal) for more details.  On this recent visit, we tried one of their massive noodle soup bowls with chicken.

Thai House Royale (Metrotown) – Lunch Specials

One of the worst kept secrets is the lunch specials at Thai House Royale.  Located at Station Square, we’ve frequented this Thai House location for a number of years and it gets pretty busy during lunchtime due to their fantastic lunch special deals for $7.95.

Maenam – A Modern Take on Thai Cuisine

As I’ve probably mentioned on another post, xmas shopping in malls is crazy in December – too many people, too many screaming kids.  Plus, all of the malls seem to have the same stores.  Fortunately, there are plenty of places around Vancouver that have interesting shopping like on Granville or West 4th.  We found ourselves braving the recent sunny but chilly weather a few weeks ago and decided to try out Maenam on West 4th for some lunch before we began our trek. Thai Express (Coquitlam Centre)

Thai Express recently opened an outlet in Coquitlam Centre (wish they would open one up in Metrotown).  One of the  draws to Thai Express is that they cook your food (albeit from prepared ingredients) right in front of you using their flamethrower-fueled woks. Read the rest of this entry

Red Ginger

If you remember Kam’s Place on Davie, you’ll be happy to know that they reopened on West Broadway under the new name… Red Ginger.  The interior of the restaurant is rather large with light pink and yellow paint along with furnishings and artwork that make me think that we’re dining in someone’s home. Green Basil – Lunch Specials

Green Basil is a popular Thai House Royale knock off located across the road from Metropolis/Station Square.  Just like the Thai House Royale, Green Basil serves a very reasonable lunch special that lets you choose between a number of different menu items.  Read the rest of this entry

Thai House Royale Restaurant

The Thai House Royale located in Station Square was one of the first Thai restaurants that we tried many, many moons ago and has stayed a favourite of ours throughout the years.  The food has always been consistently good for us and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
