Thai House (Fairview) – All You Can Eat Thai Food

Although we like the Thai House, we haven’t been back to this particular location for a long time.  In fact, this was the first Thai restaurant that we’ve ever tried (all the way back in the late 80′s).  If you’ve ever been to the Thai House, you know that they have a fairly extensive menu.  I remember being surprised on our first visit when the waiter knew each dish by number and took the orders at our table all by memory and got it all right (and we had a big group of people with us). West Restaurant – Sunday Brunch

Back in December, we were really trying to avoid the local malls because we knew they would be packed full of shoppers.  Fortunately, Vancouver has lots of shopping areas besides germ-riddled malls… such as Granville Street.  I’ve never really noticed West Restaurant nestled amongst the other stores before as the exterior is a bit understated.

Banana Leaf – Dine Out Vancouver 2013

So we weren’t really planning on going to Banana Leaf for Dine Out this year but we just happened to find ourselves nearby and we were getting hungry.  It was fairly packed on this weeknight so we were lucky that they must hold back a couple of tables for walk-ins.

Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar (Fairview)

Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar recently opened up a new location on West Broadway kitty corner to the Cactus Club.  The large restaurant was pretty dead when we arrived for lunch on a sunny October Sunday which gave us ample opportunity to take in all of the colours and textures in the interior design. Paul’s Place Omelettery

I was driving along Broadway early one Saturday morning when, out of nowhere, it started hailing like it was the end of the world (well, it is 2012 after all).  I figured that I better take some refuge and fast.  Thankfully, I was near Paul’s Place Omelettery on Granville Street and that they open at 7am daily. Kaya Malay Bistro

Kaya Malay Bistro, located near A Taste of Vietnam along West Broadway, is a relatively new restaurant that has opened up.  Never one to pass up a good roti, when we found ourselves in search for some lunch in Fairview, I couldn’t help but stop by. Read the rest of this entry

Max’s Burgers

Max’s Burgers opened up earlier this year but we simply haven’t found the time to try them out until recently.  I’ve heard mixed reviews of the place but it’s always hard to judge just based on one review. Read the rest of this entry

Original Joe’s (Vancouver)

I recall eating at a restaurant located on the 2nd floor of the South East corner of Cambie and Broadway many years ago.  I’m not quite sure but I think it was a Fogg n’ Suds location but it closed out years ago.  I’ve seen the Original Joe’s that replaced it many times as I’ve driven along Broadway but I’m not sure why we haven’t tried them out until now.  Read the rest of this entry

Café Salade de Fruits – Les Moules et les Moules et les Moules

No ketchup, no refills, and no credit cards.  These signs adorn the large brick wall that covers the kitchen area.  It would be easy to pass by this little bistro, located inside the French Cultural Centre on West 7th, and completely miss it.  Read the rest of this entry

Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt (Cambie)

Frozen Yogurt seems to be making a big comeback with places like Pinkberry and now Menchie’s opening up in the Lower Mainland.  Unlike Pinkberry, Menchie’s is basically a do-it-yourself froyo establishment where you choose your mix of frozen yogurt flavours and toppings.  The benefit of this is that you get exactly what you want… the drawback is that you may wind up buying more than you would normally. House of Taste – Shawarmas in City Square

I used to always avoid the food court in City Square – it always seemed to be a little lacking.  However, on one of our latest trips out to City Square, we were getting a bit hungry and didn’t feel like going to Kirin so we decided to check out the food court and noticed a relatively new outlet serving up Shawarmas.

Joey Broadway – Stress Release Part 1

This is Part 1 of a 3 part series covering our attempts to relieve the stress that we’ve been going through over the last month and a half.  Besides the usual work-related stress that we’ve been experiencing, we’ve recently had a fairly horrid experience with roofing work at our place (and the subsequent restoration work after experiencing a large leak caused by the roofers).  Read the rest of this entry
