Lucky’s Doughnuts

One of my new favourite spots for doughnuts in Vancouver is Lucky’s Doughnuts inside the 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters on the corner of Main and 13th.  Their hand-crafted designer doughnuts are made fresh from scratch and are almost too gorgeous to eat… almost.

Okay, so we’ve had one of the great DealFind coupons for Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Hotel burning a hole in our pocket since last year.  We originally visited last summer and were quite pleased… especially with the raisin scones (see our first visit).

Savary Island Pie Company

While I’ve never been much of a pie-eater before (I’m more of a cake-person), I have to admit that my interest in pies peaked while watching Pushing Daisies a few years ago.  In that show, Ned, the main character (who has the unique ability to bring people back to life – with possible dire consequences) runs a place call The Pie Hole.

Laurelle’s Fine Foods – Buttermilk Scones

Since we were in Granville Island picking up some bread at Terra Breads, we also decided to pick up a few scones at Laurelle’s Fine Foods.  They serve a number of items here from sweet desserts to savory sausage rolls.

There are lots of places in Granville Island to grab a quick bite or pick up a few tasty morsels… one place that we keep going back to is Terra Breads located in the Market.

Secret Garden Tea Company – High Tea

Contrary to it’s name, the Secret Garden Tea Company is hardly a secret at all… in fact, it’s one of the more popular places for High Tea (or Afternoon Tea if you want to get technical).  We made reservations for noon – and, as usual with our luck, they had some trouble finding our reservations.  Fortunately, we arrived early enough that they were still able to seat us because the tables started filling up quickly as soon as we sat down.

PNE 2011 – Fair Food

We’ve been going to the Pacific National Exhibition every year since we were kids.  Some things have changed over the years (I still miss the BC Pavilion with the Challenger Relief Map) but one thing that hasn’t changed is that the PNE is a great place to go to get yummy fair food.
