I think the first time I visited the Dockside Restaurant was a number of years ago when I had a course at the Granville Island Hotel. It’s kind of on the far end of Granville Island so it’s not unusual that you would miss it if you didn’t know it was there. It’s become one of my favourite restaurants in Granville Island (along with The Sandbar) so when the Groupon came out a while ago, we had to jump for it.
The Granville Island Hotel has gone through some renovations over the last year and it looks much better when walking through the entrance now. One of the great things is being able to look out onto False Creek as you eat (a bunch of the dragonboat teams were out practicing this evening).
We opted for the mussels with pita bread in a curry masala sauce. The mussels were a little on the small side but the sauce was excellent (could have just slurped it all up).
I had a great lamb dish here before (see further down in the post for some old pics) so I decided to go with the Rack of Lamb with green onion polenta potato cake. It wasn’t as great as the last time I had it, but it did still taste pretty good.
The Prime Rib was pretty big. This was the 8 oz (the smallest they serve). The crispy shallots (kind of like tempura) were great.
Since we saved so much using the Groupon, we figured we’d try out the Dessert Sampler.
It came with minature versions of their Valrhona Manjari Dark Chocolate Pate topped with chocolate gelato, small little creme-filled biscuits, jellies (kind of like turkish delight), and Creme Brulee.
Here’s some pictures of what we had on previous occassions (oddly enough, many of the same dishes).
Mussels appetizers, a very tasty pan seared fish (think it was halibut).
The super awesome lamb dish I had last time (it was a huge portion of lamb chops and lamb shoulder.
And, of course, dessert.
The menu seems to change from time to time, but the food is always good and the service always seems great too (love places where they refill your water without having to ask for it).
