Kawawa Ramen – Tobiko Fried Rice

One of the things that I like about tobiko is the way it “pops” when you bite down on it.  Another thing that I like about tobiko is the way it has a habit of getting stuck in your teeth… you can finish your meal and 1/2 an hour later, you could find a little roe in your mouth (bonus snack!).

I’ve never had Tobiko Fried Rice before but after seeing it on the menu at Kawawa Ramen in Metropolis, I knew what I wanted to try.  Just like their ramen servings, the bowl of tobiko fried rice was pretty big.

The sheer amount of flying fish roe that they used was impressive.  The fried rice itself wasn’t spectacular but getting a bite of tobiko in every spoonful gave it a wonderful texture.

Like the last time we went to Kawawa Ramen, we also got the gyoza which were nice and plump with fillings.

Plus we got the Kawawa Ramen… I had forgotten how nice and tender the beef brisket was here.

The only problem with the service here is that it does seem to get pretty busy at times and I usually only see 1 waitress covering the whole restaurant.  It reminds me of playing the Diner Dash video game.
