Nando’s Chicken (Metrotown)
Nando’s Chicken is a huge chain-type restaurant that started in South Africa in 1987 and has expanded to 30 countries worldwide. I’ve seen some of their stand alone restaurants but have never bothered to eat there because I’ve always thought their prices were a bit expensive for what they serve.
Nando’s also has a lot of outlets in mall food courts like the one at Metrotown. I always wonder how they stay in business because they never seem very busy. Their signature dish is grilled chicken that has been marinated in peri-peri sauce.
The chicken’s not bad… it’s very much like the chicken that you would find in anybody’s backyard bbq. The peri-peri sauce really isn’t spectacular and, after a few meals, just seems a bit boring. The main problem is why would I spend this much money for grilled chicken when I can do a better (and cheaper) job in my backyard?
