900 West Lounge – White Monkey Paw

Okay, so we’ve had one of the great DealFind coupons for Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver burning a hole in our pocket since last year.  We originally visited last summer and were quite pleased… especially with the raisin scones (see our first visit).

The time to use our remaining coupon was running out so we wound up coming on a weekend – probably a bad move because it was really busy (probably with a bunch of other procrastinators).

We decided to try some different teas this time around and went with the Orange Pekoe and the White Monkey Paw –  The White Monkey Paw was very light and refreshing.

While the selection of savory and sweet items change a bit, I’m glad the raisin scones were still here – the Devonshire cream and Hero strawberry jam go perfectly with the scones.

Most of the other sweet items were okay but the I really liked the white chocolate eclair.

The savory items were pretty similar to what we had the first time around but the buttery mini-croissants with ham and brie were superb.

Service wasn’t as good as when we came by on a week day last year and we had difficulty flagging down someone to refill our teapots.  My best advice would be to come by when it’s less busy and the service is more attentive (but I suppose that’s partly  our fault for waiting until the last minute to use our coupon).

Note:  DealFind just put out another coupon for this the other day… $38 for Afternoon Tea for 2 people ($76 dollar value) – as of this post, there’s about 65 hours left on the offer and almost 9,000 have been purchased so far (coupon expires Apr 3, 2013) so don’t be surprised if it gets busy here for Afternoon Tea.
