Tung Hing Bakery – Chinese Pastries and Banh Mi Too
On our first visit to Tung Hing Bakery (during our epic Bánh Mì Pilgrimage last year) we totally bypassed the fact that Tung Hing also serves a big selection of Chinese pastries.
We figured that we should correct our grievous error and picked up some bakery items while we were driving by the other day. I think their pastries are on the average to good side (at least from the ones that we tried). Clockwise from the top: Cocktail Bun, Pineapple Bun, Egg Tart, and BBQ Pork Bun. My favourites were the egg tarts and the bbq pork bun.
We also picked up these Deep Fried Red Bean and Lotus Paste Sesame Balls… a bit oily but that’s to be expected.
Of course, it would be sacrilegious to come to Tung Hing Bakery without picking up some delicious Bánh Mì… we decided to pick up the Special and the Lemongrass Chicken. The bread is oh-so-crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside.
So although the Chinese pastries weren’t bad, I probably wouldn’t stop by just for them. But if you’re here to pick up some tasty Bánh Mì and you had a craving for a bbq pork bun, this would probably satisfy your cravings.
