Earl of Sandwich (Las Vegas – Planet Hollywood)

As the saying goes… Vegas never sleeps.  There’s a reason why you won’t find a clock or a window in a casino – they want you to forget about time and spend all of your hard-earned cash.

IMG_20121212_083307Oddly enough, even though the people in Vegas might not sleep, not all of the restaurants are open 24 hours.

So when you find yourself staggering outside of the casino late at night and looking for some moderately priced grub, you’re not left with a lot of options.

Thankfully, there’s an Earl of Sandwich located in Planet Hollywood on The Strip that is open 24 hours a day.

Originally formed by the current Earl of Sandwich John Montagu, his younger brother Orlando, and Planet Hollywood founder Robert Earl, they specialize in serving a variety of hot sandwiches.

Both John and Orlando are direct descendants to the 4th Earl of Sandwich who popularized (but did not invent) the concept of meat tucked between two pieces of bread in Great Britain during the 18th century.

Despite the humble beginning of the sandwich, Earl of Sandwich sees that a great sandwich is more than just meat stuffed between bread (unlike the much hyped Meat & Bread located in Vancouver).  They have a number of different hot sandwich offerings and all at a reasonable price (usually between $6 – $7) and served on freshly baked loafs.

The Earl’s Club – roasted turkey, smoked bacon, aged Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and sandwich sauce.

The Italian – salami, capicola, roasted ham, mortadella, Italian dressing, mozzarella cheese and tomatoes.

All American – roast turkey, buttermilk ranch, cranberries, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes.

Hawaiian BBQ – grilled chicken, roasted ham, aged Swiss, French pineapple, and Hawaiian BBQ sauce.

This is a great spot to pick up a quick snack or a light meal or when you just not in the mood for a big buffet meal.
