Bella Cakes & Pastries
The first time I drove through the Sapperton area of New Westminster, the first thought to hit me was how the main thoroughfare (East Columbia Street) reminded me of the “Main Street” of a quaint little town in the middle of nowhere. Sapperton was named after the Royal Engineers, Columbia Detachment (known as Sappers) who had barracks nearby.
We’ve stopped by on a few occasions to do some shopping and noticed the pastries from Bella Cakes & Pastries calling out to us. Since we had just had lunch, we didn’t wind up getting a lot of items but I’m sure we’ll come back for more.
The Pink Bigne was delicious and with a nice strawberry frosting covering the puffy pastry that encased the creamy custard filling.
We also picked up a Chocolate Éclair which was just as good – makes me want to go back right now.
We noticed that they also had some St. Honore cakes in their display as well. If you’re ever in the area, drop by and pick up a few treats… I know I will.
