The Boathouse (New West) – Seafood Share Platter

Usually when we go to The Boathouse in New West, we wind up in the dining room.  On this sunny Monday, it was pretty dead so we sat in the lounge area – it has a nice view of the boardwalk and the Fraser River.

While the Seafood Share Platter ($29.99) is meant for 3 to 4 people, we didn’t have a problem polishing it off (along with a plate of Mussels).

The mussels were okay and the sauce was a yummy but they were a bit on the small size.  Under the mussels were some potato halves.  We were a bit full so we didn’t wind up eating a lot of the potatoes but from the piece that I tried, it was good because it had soaked up some of the broth.

The seafood share platter included four items.  The key lime shrimp were plump and had a sharp and slightly spicy sauce.  The crab cakes and calamari were equally impressive but it was the hot crab dip that I really enjoyed.  It’s served with fried pita chips but I wish they had used something a little thinner like tortilla chips instead.

Their menu changes all the time – if you ever see their deep fried oysters on their menu, make sure you order them (take a look at one of our previous posts here).
