Thai Eleven – Granville Island
Inside the Granville Island Public Market is a food court that always seems busy when we visit. Due to the limited seating, we usually don’t dine here and head to one of the nearby restaurants. But on our last visit, we noticed a Thai place in the food court called Thai Eleven.
The aroma from all of the spices lured me in. Even though we already had lunch earlier, I thought some take-out would make a nice snack. For under $7, I got an order of Pad Thai and Red Curry Beef to go.
The curry was pretty good but most of the sauce had gotten soaked into the noodles by the time we brought it home. It’s probably best to eat this fresh.

Being drawn in my the colorful dishes, I stopped by and tried the pad thai too. I ate mine right away. The weird thing was that it was completely devoid of the usual peanut flavor. I wondered if they just forgot to add it? Did you have a similar experience? I’m having a hard time finding great pad thai in this town so I’d appreciate any recommendations you might have. Thanks!
Try Longtail Kitchen at the Quay in New West or Sawasdee Thai on Main Street. Longtail uses local ingredients to reimagine Thai food while Sawasdee lets you choose between ketchup-style sauce or tamarind sauce.
