Horizons Restaurant – Xmas Lunch

Well, to be more specific, it was a pre-xmas lunch when we visited Horizons on Burnaby Mountain. 

On most of our past visits, the view from up here has been obscured by fog.  On this visit in mid-December, however, the weather was cooperating and we had a clear view from the restaurant.

The Line Caught West Coast Ling Cod ($21) – wrapped in thinly sliced parma prosciutto, woodgrilled tomato, lemon, olive oil and yukon gold mashed potatoes was very enjoyable.  The white flesh of the ling cod had thick, meaty flakes and the prosciutto adds a slightly sweet and slightly salty aspect to the fish.


The Chocolate Mousse Cake ($9) comes prepared on a pecan-hazelnut crust and drizzled with passion fruit sauce.  The crust was better than the dessert I had on our last visit here.  There was just a slight crunch from the pecans and the mousse was smooth and creamy.
