Longtail Kitchen – Street Food
After my first visit to Longtail Kitchen in the Quay, I’ve been looking for an excuse to come back to try the rest of their menu. Truth be told, they don’t have an extensive menu… but what they do have is all made quite well.
Pad Si U with Beef ($10) is the archetypal representation of hawker-style street food. The broad and flat rice noodles were a bit snappier with a noticeable chew to the bite. And the charred beef were flavourfully spiced.
There’s something about the spicy curry that awakens your taste buds in the Turmeric Curry of Salt Spring Island Mussels ($10). It’s a good thing that it comes with a bowl of rice so you can sop up the curry sauce.
And, of course, I couldn’t come back without ordering the Fried Oysters ($6) with nahm jim sauce. These plump and juicy suckers had a nice thin crispy exterior.
