PappaRoti – The Original Coffee Bun
“Pappa-whati?” That was the first thought that crossed my mind.
Papparoti is is a coffee shop chain that started out a decade ago in Malaysia and spread out to over 400 cafes worldwide, with the first Canadian location on Robson Street. The draw that everyone seems to talk about is their signature coffee bun. The caramel coffee cream topping gives these buns a crunchy top. Similar to a Chinese Mexico bun or pineapple bun, the topping crumbles away easily when you bite into the bun.
If the bun isn’t good enough to entice you, they offer up a number of different sides to pair with the bun, such as the Nutella shown below.
You can kind of see in the picture that the bun has a number of concentric circles… that’s how they carefully apply the coating to the bun.
Was the bun good? Yes – but I probably wouldn’t eat it by itself… I’d need one of the sides to accompany it.
