Basho Cafe – Mochi Mochi Matcha
Hmmm… a Japanese cafe? There’s an abundance of sushi restaurants in Vancouver, but I think this is the first Japanese cafe that I’ve been to.
This place is tiny and packed with people but the pastries are so good that you’ve got to try them out. They have a display counter up front where you can pick out your favourite goodies.
Since there was no place to sit, I grabbed a bunch of things to go including the Matcha Chocolate Coconut Cookie, the Mochi Mochi Matcha, the Cocoa Almond Cookie, the Heart-Shaped Matcha Sandwich Cookie, and the Matcha Cookie. Prices ranged from $0.50 to $2.00.
While I enjoyed everything, the Mochi Mochi Matcha (shaped like a tiny cupcake) was the best. Loved the soft, squishy texture and it wasn’t too sweet.
