Ha Cafe – Hidden Vietamese

Ha Cafe is an easy-to-miss Vietnamese restaurant located in Old Orchard Shopping Centre in Burnaby next to the Shoppers Drug Mart.

It’s more of a “hidden gem” than a “hole-in-the-wall” since the interior is actually quite clean and well kept.

On my first visit back in mid-July, I tried the Fresh Fruit Smoothie – Mango ($3.95) and the Large Chicken Wings ($7.95). The wings had a good flavour (especially when you dip it in the sauce) although not being too spicy.

I also ordered the Grilled Pork and Spring Rolls on Vermicelli ($8.25). The meat was grilled perfectly and the crispy spring rolls were tightly packed.

I came back to try out their Chicken Sub ($4.95). They make this in front of you and it has the perfect bread that’s crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The grilled chicken was plentiful and mixed in with the pickled veggies that you expect in a good banh mi.

Despite being difficult to find, there seems to be a lot of regulars that know of their whereabouts and this restaurant can get busy during the lunch hour rush.
