Willows Cafe at Mandeville Garden

To be honest, I’ve spent quite a bit of time at Mandeville Garden (now GardenWorks at Mandeville) over the years. And while I’ve always noticed the little cafe that they have located in one section of the store, it wasn’t until recently that we decided to try them out.

The cafe is spacious enough and even has a small outdoor patio where you can enjoy your food. Nothing highbrow here… you order at the counter and they’ll bring your food to your table when it’s ready. We picked up a lemonade and iced tea to quench our thirst but the lemonade was oddly warm. They tried to add some ice to cool it down but it didn’t succeed very well.

As for our meals, we picked the Avocado Shrimp Benedict and the Waffle and Eggs (both $12.99). The poached eggs were overcooked so no runny yolks for us.

As for the waffles, I thought they were just meh but my dining compatriot actually enjoyed them. Perhaps it’s because I prefer Liège waffles. Like the eggs, the 3 bacon pieces were way overcooked (and I like crispy bacon).

The food here is nothing special but, if nothing else, it provides some nourishment while you’re shopping for plants.
