Breka Bakery & Café (Fraser St) – Sweets 24×7
If you suffer from insomnia around the Sunset area of Fraser and 49th, you’ve no doubt stumbled across Breka Bakery & Café. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this European-style bakery is a mecca for students and shift-workers looking for a pick-me-up at all hours of the night.
The Breka located on Fraser Street opened in 2006 after taking over the prior establishment (Fraser Bakery & Konditorei) and is filled to the brim with an assortment of pastries that would make anyone’s mouth water.
The Chocolate Almond Croissant ($3.75) is quite large but I found that the croissant was a bit overcooked (instead of being light and crispy, it was more hard and crunchy). The Belgian Chocolate Mousse Cake ($4.75) had a nice smooth and creamy texture but lacked a deep chocolatey flavour.
In keeping with my chocolate motif, I also ordered the German Chocolate Cake ($4.75) which had nuts within the layers.
The Red Velvet cake ($4.25) was pretty good… a moist cake that’s not too sweet but very creamy.
If you’re looking for sweets in the middle of the night, Breka has 3 locations in Vancouver where you can satisfy your sugar cravings.

The only thing I really love from Breka is their beesting (biesenstich) cake. And I really love it! Do give it a try if you need a tea snack for a group of people — it’s a full sized cake.
Sounds good… Thanks for the recommendation
