Trattoria Italian Kitchen (Burnaby)
After a long wait, Trattoria Italian Kitchen finally opened up on the corner of Kingsway and Willingdon in Burnaby. Although I’ve never been a big fan of the Glowbal Group of restaurants due to past service experience at some of their other restaurants, I was happily surprised that the service at this location wasn’t too bad.
Most of the menu here, as expected, is centered around various pastas and pizzas. My dining compatriot and I started with the Burrata & Prosciutto which is served with a pleasantly toothsome forno toast. The burrata, an Italian soft cheese made with mozzarella and cream, is paired with thinly sliced prosciutto di parma and accompanied with a pesto dipping sauce.
I also tried their Trattoria Lemonade (passion fruit) but found that it lacked any passion fruit flavour.
For my meal, I had the Lamb Pappardelle which was prepared quite well and had a pleasantly spicy kick. The lamb sausage was much better than I was expecting and the dish had a very robust flavour.
Overall, the prices at Trattoria seem a bit on the high side but the food’s not bad and fills a void in the neighbourhood.
