Thai House (Fairview) – AYCE Brunch

So, it’s been about 2 years since our last visit to the Thai House located on 7th Ave. We were in the neighbourhood and had a craving for their all-you-can-eat brunch. Not so much for the amount of food that you can get at an AYCE, but because we like having a variety of dishes.

As it turns out, we inadvertently ordered the exact same items that we did on our last visit… guess we know what we like. The price has gone up to $17.95 per person… if you can eat a lot, it’s a good deal.

We started our meal with their Mango Fruit Juice Smash and Lime Soda. The mango was a real smash and I enjoyed it a lot but I found that the lime soda wasn’t as good as I remembered it to be… although I saw lime pulp in my drink, it tasted like it had a bit too much sweetness (perhaps they used some lime syrup).

The Deep Fried Calamari had a nice crispy exterior. The dip was a bit of an odd choice I felt… tasted like honey mustard sauce.

The Chicken Wings with Zesty Sauce came out super hot and, like the calamari, had a nice crispy coating. We wound up using the hot sauce that came with this dish for our calamari.

The Pad Thai Noodles had a sauce that was a bit too sweet for my preferences, but I did enjoy the plump shrimp that came with this dish as they had a nice snap to the bite.

We were planning on order a curry dish so I ordered the Chili Pepper Fried Rice with Chicken as it’s perfect for sopping up the sauce. Sure enough, the Green Curry Chicken arrived with an ample amount of thick curry sauce along with tender eggplant and peppers.

Next up was the Boneless Chicken with Thai Peanut Sauce served on Spinach and the Chicken Lettuce Wrap.

We can’t eat as much as we used to and, by this time, we were getting full so we ended our meal with the Vegetarian Spring Rolls and Mango Ice Cream.

I really miss the Thai House that used to be near Metrotown… loved having their $7.95 lunch specials.
