Rain or Shine Ice Cream – Malted Chocolate Honeycomb

There used to be a time when Vancouver was strictly known for our rain… we had two good months of sunny weather followed by ten months of dreary rain. Hence, the partly sarcastic nickname, “Raincouver”. I suppose global warming is finally catching up to us since this year has seemed more like “Suncouver”.

What better way to celebrate this bipolar weather than visit Rain or Shine Ice Cream on Cambie Street? Vancouver has seen an explosion in fresh, locally-made, artisan ice cream shops lately and I’m not complaining.

We stopped by in late July and picked up a cone of Peanut Butter and Blueberry Balsamic along with a cone of the Malted Chocolate Honeycomb and Raspberry Lemon Sorbet because getting 2 flavours was just an extra 50 cents.

The ice cream here is super creamy and I really enjoyed the crunchy chocolate honeycomb. It was quite busy when the weather was warm. I wonder if they’ll be able to sustain the traffic when sunshine gives way to dark clouds and rain?

One thing that I’d want to try is their Taco Tuesday – that’s right, ice cream tacos!

  1. Yum!!! That’s so generous of them to offer the double scoop for only 50c extra. These look delicious 😉
