Sushi Paradise – Royal City Centre
I had heard of some good things about Sushi Paradise in New Westminster so I decided to drop by for a visit one day in November. I originally thought that this was inside the food court of Royal City Centre… but, as it turns out, it’s on the outside of the mall – on the corner of 8th and Princess Street.
This is actually a fairly small restaurant. You order at the front and then they bring your food out to your table. There are plenty of kids here during lunch from the nearby school.
I wound up ordering the Lunch Special B ($8.48).
The miso soup was served piping hot but was rather standard in flavour. I did enjoy the salad, which was served with avocado slices and a tart dressing.
The California roll and the nigiri sushi were okay, but neither were standouts.
The Chicken Teriyaki was tender but there was no crisp skin. I did enjoy how the rice was saucy throughout.
I also picked up an order of Sockeye Salmon Sashimi ($7.98) for 6 pieces. As it turned out, I counted 8 thin slices of sashimi. The salmon was clean and had a nice finish.
Overall, there’s pretty good eats here for the price. The portion size isn’t huge but the food’s respectable.
