Alleluia Cafe – HK Style Cafe
Alleluia Cafe is a rather popular HK style cafe located in Richspot Plaza in Richmond. I came by early one morning before my trek out along the Iona Pipeline.
I figured I needed something warm and filling so I picked their $7.50 combo that came with Congee with Shredded Pork and Preserved Egg, Chinese Donut, and Pan-Fried Rice Rolls with Soy Sauce.
The congee wasn’t bad but it was a little thin and the century egg was cut up into tiny pieces. The Chinese donut is similarly cut up into tiny pieces (I don’t think it’s the size of a regular Chinese donut) and the donut itself was a bit too hard.
The rice rolls had an oily sheen covering each piece and it came with a thin hoisin sauce on the plate. Overall, it was pretty good but I thought that it could use a bit more wok heat.
Surprisingly, the western-style breakfast dishes here are quite popular with many of the older Chinese diners. This place is cash only and seems to get quite busy so plan accordingly.
