Steak Shack (Hawaii 2016) – Beachfront Steak and Chicken
Waikiki is known for having many upscale restaurants. There’s also a proliferation of hole-in-the-wall food stalls serving up quality eats. Take, for example, Steak Shack.
It’s a tiny location on the outside of the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort, right on the beachfront. The easiest way to get there is to take the beach access at Kalia Road where it meets the Fort Derussey Beach Park. While strictly a take-out shop, there are a few seats outside the shack that you can enjoy your meal.
I ordered the beef and chicken combo with rice and salad ($13) and wound up with a huge serving of freshly grilled-to-order meat.
What you can’t see underneath all of the beef and chicken is the ample amount of rice. I swear, I’ve eaten more rice on this vacation than I usually eat in a whole month back home.
The beef and chicken were grilled perfectly tender. It’s pretty much bare bones here but they do have some sauces (teriyake, H1, and hot sauce) that you can add to your meal). It’s a great plate lunch option if you’re on the beach and you’re looking for a filling meal/snack.
