Pearl’s Korean BBQ (Hawaii 2016) – Bibimbap Loco Moco
What do you get when you take two classics like Korean bibimbap and Hawaiian loco moco and mash them up?
Uh, Bibimbap Loco Mobo… what were you expecting? But seriously, these two rice-based dishes are staples in their own right. If you visit Pearl’s Korean BBQ, you can see what this creation looks like.
Here it is… doesn’t that look mouthwatering? There’s lots of rice underneath the toppings so this is a very filling meal. The rice is topped with pickled veggies, sprouts, and other veggies as well as a large beef patty and drenched in sauce. Oh, did I mention the fried egg and hot sauce? The only thing that would make this better is if it came in a hot stone bowl to get the rice a bit crispy.
Pearl’s has a few locations but the one we visited was in the Royal Hawaiian Center, conveniently located in the middle of Waikiki.
