Longs Drugs (Hawaii 2016) – Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cream Pie

During our recent visit to Oahu this year, we decided to stay mainly in the Waikiki area since we had previously done the North Shore a couple of years ago. There’s a lot of great food on the North Shore (garlic shrimp, shave ice and the chocolate macadamia nut cream pies from Ted’s Bakery to name a few). Well, as we found out with Pacific Garlic Shrimp, you don’t need to go all the way to the North Shore to enjoy these things.

What does this have to do with Longs Drugs? Well, Longs is more than just a drug store. The Waikiki location has a large selection of prepared food on the main floor (similar to how you can find ready-to-eat food at the local ABC Stores or Coco Cove). One of the things that we found was a selection of Ted’s Bakery pies. We couldn’t help ourselves and wound up buying a Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cream Pie to go.

Fortunately, we had a fridge in our suite because we couldn’t finish this large pie. It has a rich, smooth dark chocolate custard cream combined with diced macadamia nuts on the inside and it’s covered with a whipped topping. Overall, I preferred the Hula Pie that we had at Duke’s but I can see the appeal for others.

If you’re looking for a quick snack while you’re stocking up on sunscreen, you might want to check out Longs Drugs. They also have great deals on macadamia nuts if you need to bring some back for family.
