Cats Socialhouse – The Pub Burger
There’s lots of options for eats when you head down to Granville Island. Until this point, I’ve steered clear of Cats Socialhouse… mainly because the name evokes a hipster-ish place to me and I’m far from being a social person.
But I decided to confront my fears in early June and stopped by for a quick dinner on their patio. Cats is tucked away on Old Bridge Walk so there’s not a huge amount of foot traffic in front of the restaurant.
I opted for a Virgin Mojito ($4.25) and The Pub Burger ($15.95) for dinner. The burger came with smoked bacon, havarti cheese, whole leaf lettuce, and tomato. When it arrived, it reminded me very much like the type of burger that I would grill up in my backyard. There was nothing over the top about it… just a good, solid burger. I really liked the super crunchy fries – they were mainly smaller pieces but they were abundant. If you like to savour those small crispy bits at the bottom of your fries, you’ll be in heaven here.
Overall, the pressed patty and the crispy bacon made for a good burger.
