The Cannibal Cafe – Bacon Bad Burger

The Cannibal Cafe’s been on my list of places to visit on The Drive for a while… mainly for the thick milkshakes that I’ve heard about.

The walls of Cannibal Cafe are wallpapered with old flyers and adverts and lends to the diner-style vibe of the place. I had mentioned milkshakes… I ordered the Strawberry Milkshake ($6.49) which arrived in the stainless steel cup. I wish it actually came in a large glass cup with the excess in the stainless steel cup (like they do at many other diners) because it would have made for a better picture. I did enjoy the thick shake however.

Next up was the Taco Salad ($14.95). This salad was seriously huge and, interestingly enough, was served on a bed of corn chips.

I ordered the Bacon Bad ($15.95) with a side of Yam Fries (an additional $3.95). It was a bit of a strange name considering how much bacon was in this burger… stuffed with bacon and cheddar and topped with applewood smoked bacon, cheddar, and maple bacon bourbon jam.

The burger, as expected, was quite messy to eat and I wound up having to knife-and-fork it after the first few bites.

Speaking of burgers, there was a guy in the table behind us who was tackling the Beast.. it comes with 6 x 6oz patties, 6 double cheese slices, and 6 double bacon strips. If you finish it within 30 minutes, you get a t-shirt, a photo on the Wall of Fame and the burger’s free. He was doing pretty well by the time we had left… I wonder if he managed to finish it.

  1. Just read your Cobs cinnamon bun review they are good, but I miss the raisins. Wish I knew a good bakery that still makes cinnamon buns with raisins – do you know of one???

    • Sorry, haven’t seen many places that have raisins in the cinnamon buns. Try Swiss Bakery – they used to have a sticky bun (similar to a cinnamon bun) with raisins in it.
