Carp Dori (Hawaii 2017): Yakitori
Thanks to the food stalls in the Shirokiya Japan Village Walk, we were able to relive many of our favourite food memories from our trip to Japan. One of our favourites was when we visited the tiny yakitori restaurants in Tokyo. After our okonomiyaki from Tokugawa, we decided to try a few skewers from Carp Dori, also located in the Japan Village Walk.
In addition to various cuts of chicken, this place also grills up a number of other meats.
We ordered the Beef Skewers ($2.99), Chicken Thigh ($2.50), Stuffed Peppers ($2.99), and Squid ($2.50)… all of which were grilled freshly for us. I found the beef was a bit chewy but the chicken thigh was much better with a nice char on the outside and tender meat. The standout of the bunch was the stuffed peppers… mmmm!
One of the benefits of this place over the one we visited in Japan is that it’s much more convenient and there’s plenty of seating available in the Japan Village Walk so you don’t feel like you’re squished in like sardines.
