Gilligan’s Beach Shack (Hawaii 2017): Garlic Shrimp and Shoestring Fries
There’s always free entertainment in Waikiki… if you know where to look. Whether it’s the torch lighting ceremony, the shows at the International Marketplace, or the ever popular fireworks at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Speaking of which, We were checking out the fireworks on our second-to-last day in Waikiki and decided to grab some food from Gilligan’s Beach Shack.
Gilligan’s food truck is located in the parking lot just outside of the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon behind the Hilton Hawaiian Village, which is right where the Friday fireworks display is held. They serve up shave ice as well as garlic shrimp and some other seafood items.
Gilligan’s Garlic Shrimp with Shoestring Fries and Cole Slaw ($11.95). In terms of garlic shrimp food trucks, it’s not the best that you’ll get in Hawaii, but it’s literally steps away from the beach and you can enjoy your meal while gazing at Diamond Head in the background. I will say one thing for them… their skinny shoestring fries were super crispy and addictive.
