Spade Coffee & Spirits & Treats & Small Plates: Meat Breakfast Sammy
A couple of months ago, I noticed a strange thing in my social media feed… all of a sudden, there were countless pictures of a black spade on a white wall. No, not a shovel… the spade that you see in a deck of cards. Intrigued, I did a bit of digging and found out this was for a place called Spade Coffee. But it’s much more than a coffee shop.
Personally, I’m not much of a coffee person… the closest that I’ll usually get is a latte. Unlike many others, I don’t need caffeine to get going in the morning (plus I like my days a bit fuzzy anyhoo). Instead, I ordered a Hot Chocolate ($4.50) which was served in a humongous mug and had some nice latte artwork on the top.
For my breakfast, I picked the Meat Breakfast Sammy ($8.50) made with dry-cured jamon, aged cheddar, basil mayo, onion jam, and a soft-cooked egg delicately perched within brioche bread.
Needless to say, once you give the sandwich a firm squeeze, the egg yolk pops and you get a glorious amount of yolk porn as it slowly oozes out. Yes, it’s a bit messy to eat but anything worth eating is usually a bit messy. The brioche had a nice light puffiness to the bite while still being flaky and crusty.
If you’re looking for more than just coffee around The Drive, this cute and airy shop is sure to please.
