Ban Chok Dee Thai Cuisine: Langley Thai Food
So we don’t find ourselves out in Langley very often. But after doing some flower shopping at a couple of nurseries in the area, we wound up at Ban Chok Dee Thai Cuisine in mid-June.
This restaurant is a bit dark inside and is split up into different little nooks so it has that cozy vibe going on. We started with a Red Lotus Smoothie ($5) made with fresh berries and a Lychee Bubble Tea ($4). After our hot day in the sun, we pleasantly cooled down with these refreshing drinks.
We always have trouble deciding what to order because we like variety so we happily ordered the Chok Dee Platter ($20) which included crispy spring rolls filled with sautéed vermicelli noodles, carrots, cabbage and black pepper, golden wontons deep-fried with a minced pork filling seasoned with garlic, cilantro, and ground pepper, and chicken and pork satay skewers marinated in traditional Thai spices and then broiled and served with peanut sauce.
For our mains, we added the Pad Thai ($15) with prawns, egg, tofu, green onions, bean sprouts, and ground peanuts. I like that they make this with tamarind sauce instead of ketchup and the prawns were nice and plump with a snap to the bite.
We also ordered the Green Curry Chicken ($16) which turned out very good. The tender eggplant was swimming in a green curry sauce made with rich coconut milk and accompanied by bell peppers and sweet basil leaves.
Overall, this was a strong Thai restaurant. All of the food came out piping hot and the flavours were on point.
