Trafiq Cafe and Bakery: More Than Just Cakes
If you’re looking for cakes in Vancouver, the place that everyone talks about is Trafiq. Operating a cafe on bustling Main Street, they offer up a variety of sandwiches, cakes, and pastries.
Having never been to this place before, we dropped by in early December to get some sweet treats as well as lunch to go. They generally have a number of small 6-inch cakes available each day as well as slices of their 10-inch cakes but if you want to be sure, you should order ahead of time.
I wanted to try a bunch of their different cakes so we picked a selection of their mini cake squares.
But I couldn’t leave without ordering a slice of their Chocolate Decadence. This is definitely meant for people who have a sweet tooth and love chocolate… layers and layers of devil’s food cake is separated with bitter-sweet chocolate mousse and then covered in dark chocolate ganache. I think I just got a cavity from looking at this picture.
For our lunch, we opted for the Ham and Swiss Croissant with a maple-dojon aioli and alfalfa sprouts. In addition, we added the California Club on Cranberry Pecan with roasted chicken, bacon, guacamole, sprouts, chipotle mayo and refried beans. I was a bit skeptical about the refried beans but they really worked in the sandwich.
Really solid sandwiches here and their cakes are super too. If you’re not big into chocolate, try their carrot cake.
