Arvind’s Curry & Cocktail: Lamb Vindaloo
Arvind’s Curry & Cocktail is located on 6th Street in New West and popped up on my radar (I can’t recall why). After running out of new places to try in my area, I decided to stop by and check this place out.
On the weekday lunch hour, it was very dead (I was the only diner there). While they have a lunch buffet available, I opted to order from their regular menu and got the Lamb Vindaloo ($14.50), Pulau Rice ($5.50), and Garlic Naan ($3.50).
The garlicky naan bread was thinner and lighter than I imagined for a leavened bread but it, along with the long-grain pulau rice, is practically a must if you order any curry dish so you can sop up that sauce.
I’ve had a soft spot in my heart for vinadaloo since I was a child. They ask how spicy you want the dish and I opted for “medium” which turned out just right for my liking. There is a good amount of meat in this curry dish and I thought it turned out quite well.
I didn’t check out what they serve at their lunch buffet but it didn’t look like there were a ton of dishes there. I think you’re better off ordering from their full menu.
