Ebisu Richmond: Lunch Boats and Specials
Ebisu Richmond is a chain restaurant located in the busy Richport Town Centre mini mall. I’m not sure what it is about this place but the parking lot is always super busy. We dropped by for lunch one weekend in May and were lucky enough to find some parking.
One of the things that we like about Ebisu is that they have a number of boxes, boats, and combos that you can choose from. We wound up ordering the BBQ Unagi and Sashimi Boat ($15.95) as well as their Lunch Special ($11.95) which lets you choose 3 items from a list of various dishes.
The BBQ Unagi and Sashimi Boat comes in those wooden boats that you used to see at some sushi restaurants back in the 90’s where they would be floating around on a “conveyor belt”. On the boat was a couple of pieces of bbq unagi (eel) on rice as well as 3 pieces of tuna sashimi, 2 pieces of salmon sashimi, 2 pieces of surf clam sashimi, as well as prawn and vegetable tempura.
For our lunch special, we picked the Sashimi Salad, Pork Gyoza, and Chicken Karaage.
The sashimi salad didn’t have a whole lot of sashimi in it… just 2 pieces each of salmon and tuna sashimi mixed with spring greens.
The boneless chicken karaage turned out pretty nicely with moist chicken meat in a light but crisp exterior and with a somewhat runny mayo-like dipping sauce.
I did quite enjoy the pork gyozas that they have here. These fried dumplings had a light but crisp exterior and a juicy filling on the inside.
Overall, the food is pretty good. I think the menu at the Broadway location is a bit more extensive though.
