Seto Japanese Restaurant: Solid but Expensive
Seto Japanese Restaurant is located in Richmond and serves up some pretty solid Japanese fare. We visited here in early February for lunch and had a bit of difficulty deciding what to order because they had a regular menu, a lunch menu, and then various specials plastered on walls (unfortunately, it was a bit difficult to read those items on the wall).
First up is the Tsukemono ($5.50) which is basically just an assortment of crunchy pickled veggies.
Next is the Salmon Toro Sashimi ($12.50 for a half order). I love a good salmon belly and these buttery and fatty pieces of sashimi were really good. It’s a bit on the expensive side but good salmon toro usually is.
Next up was an item from their lunch specials… the Dynamite, BC, and California Rolls Combo ($15.75). For the price, this was a pretty good option as it’s filling and nicely prepared sushi rolls.
After that, we wound up ordering a few other things from their regular menu… the Spinach Gomae ($6), Yakitori ($6), and Oyster Motoyaki ($8). The yakitori was actually pretty good with the teriyaki sauce but I found the motoyaki’s intensely bright yellow sauce to be a bit overwhelming.
Overall, I was fairly pleased with the food quality here but found that the prices on their regular menu tend to be a bit on the expensive side.
