Black Rook Bakehouse: Chester’s Cheesecake

It’s been a number of years since we last visited Black Rook Bakehouse. Located on East Hastings Street in Vancouver, I’ve always been impressed with their savory pies and sweet cakes.

Unfortunately, on this past visit in August, they were all sold out of savory pies 😦 Instead, we took home a Lemon Berry Muffin and a slice of Chester’s Cheesecake, which is a mix between carrot cake and cheesecake. Layers of carrot cake made with rum-soaked apricots, walnuts, and pumpkin seeds sandwich a layer of New York cheesecake and the whole thing is topped with cream cheese icing.

Wish we lived a bit closer so we could drop by more often.
